Wedding Toast, From the Groom to the Bride

  • She knows all about me and loves me just the same.
  • Groom's Toast

Today I married the woman of my dreams. She's my best friend and lover, and now thankfully, she's my wife. When we first met, I knew she was something special. Her smile could light up a room and her laugh was contagious. But it went beyond that. I quickly came to learn that she's also caring, compassionate and loyal - and has a great sense of humor to boot!

I feel extremely blessed to have (bride's name) as my wife. I look forward to our life together, with all its twists and turns, joys and sorrows. I know in my heart that we were meant to be together - it was simply our destiny.

(Bride's name), I love you forever with all my heart, mind and soul.

  • (Bride's name), the day I met you, my world stood still. I had always hoped to meet someone like you, but wondered if such a woman even existed. But when we met, you exceeded all of my expectations - you were my perfect fit. It was as if our

meeting was written in the stars, arranged by some heavenly being. And the more I got to know you, the more deeply I fell in love. I knew that I wanted to hear your laugh, see your smile and feel your heart beating for the rest of my life. And so today as we join our lives together, I give you both my heart and my hand and want you to know that as we journey through life, we will do so as partners, lovers and best friends.

    I love you (Bride's name)!

  • Hi everyone!

I'm here today to marry the most amazing girl I have ever met. She is my best friend, my lover, and soon will be my wife. Although I have had many doubts in my life, I have never once worried about my relationship with (Bride). She has been such an influence on my life that I could not for a second imagine being with someone else. For this reason, I am so excited to finally be married. My buddies have always joked that I would never find someone who would put up with me, but now I can finally prove them wrong!

(Bride), you have been the only person in my life that has never left my side. I can count on you for anything, regardless of where you are or what you are doing. To know that there is someone out there who will do anything for you is the greatest feeling in the world. I never feel alone because I have someone who is ready to hold me up and support me in whatever I decide to do. I have never been so sure that you are the one for me.

Six years ago today we met on a cruise. I went with my college buddies, and we definitely only had one thing in mind: partying and laying in the sun. When I met you the first night, I was shocked how well we hit it off. Of course my friends gave me a hard time because I was already finding a woman for the trip, but it was different than that. You were not like any other girl I had ever met, and that was a good thing. While most of my friends were just looking for a hookup, I was constantly looking for a woman who was sweet, intelligent, and still supportive. I had difficulty finding anyone close to those qualities, so to come across someone so randomly was a shock. From then on, we were inseparable. Every day we sat on the beach

, gazed at the stars at dusk, and told each other every secret we could think of. It was the best trip I had in my entire life.

After that trip, I knew that you would have a permanent spot in my life. It didn't matter that I had only known you for two weeks. You felt like my significant other, and you treated me as if I was. It was such a blessing to find someone so real and ready to grab life by the neck. You pushed me into gear and I finally was able to do something with my life. Although people assumed that things would end shortly due to the way we met, we proved them wrong. Now today, as I get ready to marry you, I still have no fear. I know in my heart that you will love me forever and I will try and be the best husband I can to you.

Thank you for the past six years. They were amazing and I know the rest of our lives will be even better. It's funny to think that we are celebrating on the exact day we met. To me, that is a sign of fate.

    I love you (Bride)!

Wedding Toast, From the Parents of the Bride and Groom

  • It is written: when children find true love, parents find true joy. Here's to your joy and ours, from this day forward.
  • Father of the Bride Speech

As I look at my daughter, the bride, I can't help but reflect on all the years I was lucky enough to watch

her grow and become the beautiful woman she is today. She captured my heart on the day she was born, and I became more and more in awe of her as the years passed by. She's my little girl, my princess and my ray of sunlight, and no matter what her age, she'll always be those things to me.

But today as I watch her marry a wonderful man, I'm filled with pride and am confident that she and (Groom) are about to embark on a wonderful journey filled with the love and happiness that can only come as man and wife. May the two of you always treat each other with love, compassion and kindness.

I ask you to join me to today in congratulating the bride and groom and wishing them all the best for a long and happy life together.

  • Father of the Bride Toast

I raise my glass to toast my daughter, (Bride's name). She's dreamed of this day since she was a young girl, and now her dream has come true, complete with her very own Prince Charming. (Bride & Groom), I wish you much love and happiness in your new life together.

  • Toast
A toast to my daughter. She was a gift from God and I will always be grateful to have been given the honor of being her father. May God continue to bless her and her new husband and grant them safety, love, and happiness all the days of their lives.
  • Speech
Hi, I'm (Father's Name), (Bride's) father. I have been waiting for this moment for twenty five years, and I must say that it is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. Although it is overwhelming to give your daughter away, it is so satisfying to know that she is marrying one of the greatest men I've ever met. If I had to choose someone for her to be with, I would not pick anyone else.

(Bride) has always been the type of person to find a good quality in everyone. Even when she was a little girl, she had such a large amount of compassion that it blew me away. From the time she was old enough to go to school, (Bride) made friends with every single person in her class. It didn’t matter if one child was not popular, or if the other was too quiet, she found the best in every student that year. It surprised me that she was so sensitive, yet made people feel like they had known her for years.

Since she has always had that quality, I was not surprised when she went into (her profession). She thrived off of the fact that she could help people and save their lives. From that moment, she worked more for other people than herself. I always wished she would find a husband so she could do more for herself. Luckily, I introduced (Groom) to (Bride) when he started working for my company. I wanted someone who was just as warm hearted as her, but still had a great work ethic and a sense of determination. Even though (Bride) was appalled at the fact that I, her father, set her up on a date, I think she can thank me for it now. After all, I am the perfect matchmaker!

(Bride), although I have been cringing at the thought of letting you go, I could not be happier for my little girl. I have watched you go through school, around the clock internships, boyfriends, and breakups, and now I know that it was all worth it. I only wish the best for the both of you, and I know that you will have a beautiful marriage that will never once waiver.

(Groom), I am confident that you will take care of my daughter. You have been a dear friend and co-worker of mine for years now, and since day one my impression of you has not once changed. Thank you for treating my daughter like gold. I know in my heart that you will be the perfect match, regardless of what happens later in life.

For this reason, I would like to make a toast. (Bride and Groom), may the future bring you happiness, wisdom, and children so I can be a grandfather! But in all seriousness, I give you my whole hearted blessing and I know you two will last a lifetime. I am so happy that this day has finally come.

    Congratulations (Bride and Groom)!

To the Gathering

  • Let us toast the health of the bride; Let us toast the health of the groom, Let us toast the person that tied; Let us toast every guest in the room.

To the Bride and Groom

  • Look down you gods, and on this couple drop a blessed crown.

  • Remember that if you ever put your marital problems on the back burner they are sure to boil over.

  • Happy marriages begin when we marry the one we love, and they blossom when we love the one we married.

  • My greatest wish for the two of you is that through the years your love for each other will so deepen and grow, that years from now you will look back on this day, your wedding day, as the day you loved each other the least.

  • It don't matter where you get your appetite, as long as you eat at home!

  • May the best day of your past be the worst day of your future.

  • Marriage: A community consisting of a master, a mistress, and two slaves - making in all, two.

  • May the roof above you never fall in and may you both never fall out.

  • To the lamp of love - may it burn brightest in the darkest hours and never flicker in the winds of trial.

  • May 'for better or worse' be far better than worse.

  • The man or woman you really love will never grow old to you. Through the wrinkles of time, through the bowed frame of years, You will always see the dear face and feel The warm heart union of your eternal love.

  • May you have many children and may they grow mature in taste and healthy in color and as sought after as the contents of the glass.

What's The Difference Between a Wedding Toast and a Wedding Speech?

A wedding toast is a short acknowledgement. Usually only a few lines are said, then everyone is asked to raise their glasses and drink a tribute. A wedding speech, on the other hand, is usually several minutes long and encompasses stories, accomplishments, etc. of the person (or group of people) being acknowledged.

An Orderly Method To Presenting Wedding Speeches

There is usually a certain order that is followed when giving wedding speeches. This is not written in stone and can be changed to suit the particular wedding party.

First, the bride's father or a good family friend gives a speech about the bride and groom, ending with a toast. The groom then stands up, thanks the speech maker and delivers his own speech on behalf of the bridesmaids and maid of honor. The best man then accepts the speech on behalf of the bridesmaids and thanks the groom. He then delivers a speech about the bride and groom's parents. At the end of each speech, the current speaker also proposes a toast to that particular person or persons.

The above is just a general guideline. You can rearrange the order of speeches, have the bride make a speech, etc.

Writing a Wedding Speech - Do's and Don'ts To Follow

DO consider what you know about the person (or persons) you are giving the speech too. Write down any funny stories, anecdotes, little things that stand out in your mind and a few appropriate jokes.

DON'T be crude or bring up extremely embarrassing situations.

DO think about the length of your speech and what you'd like to say. Keep it short, no longer than 2 or 3 minutes at most. Take your time writing and rewriting as needed.

DON'T make it boring by sticking only to facts. Add a joke here and there, or bring up a funny (but not too embarrassing) situation that you remember.

DO rehearse your speech. Practice it over and over. Rewrite any long sentences and make sure the speech flows smoothly.

DON'T read directly from your speech. Make short notes on index cards to cue you on what to say next and make eye contact on with the guests.

DO get together with the anyone else who is making a speech at the wedding so you have an idea of what you'll each be saying. You don't want to be repeating a similar story or joke that someone else has prepared. Also, make sure you are familiar with the order that the speaches will be given in, so you are prepared when your turn comes.

DON'T rush your speech. Take your time and speak slowly and clearly. If you have a joke or funny story, wait a few seconds after you tell it for people to laugh.

DO remember to thank the last speaker and accept their tribute on behalf of the person they were speaking about.

DON'T forget to end your speech with a toast to the person(s) you just paid tribute to.

The following video provides some great tips on the "do's and don'ts" of writing a wedding speech.
